Top four debate

With over 50 people answering my Twitter poll on who would finish as the Premier League top scorer, 37% of you believe that Harry Kane will retain his Premier League goal golden boot. Alexis Sanchez came second with 27% of the votes with Costa and Lukaku getting 19 and 17% respectively.

However, today we are focusing on teams rather than individuals, with game week 27 almost completed the race for the top four is as tight as ever. Chelsea are still the team to beat and the chasing pack of Spurs, City, Liverpool, Arsenal and United will all be hoping the blues slip up against West Ham tomorrow night.

Let's have a look at the chasing pack and see who may or may not break into the top four this season.

Club: Tottenham Hotspur
Form: DWLWW
Position: 2nd
Position last season: 3rd
Odds: 1/7

Mauricio Pochettino has done a terrific job at Tottenham. After narrowly missing out on the league title to Leicester last season the Argentinian has managed to replicate last season's form this time round. They are beginning to look like a real force and if they can keep the young squad they have in the next few years it would be hard to not see them being regular title contenders.

Club: Manchester City
Form: DWWWW
Position: 3rd
Position last season: 4th
Odds: 1/8

I'm pretty sure that Pep Guardiola would be a little disappointed with how this season is going with Manchester City. After being used to winning the league year in year out he would have expected the 2012 and 2014 champions to have dominated the league this season. After a shaky middle to the season the Sky Blues have finally found their form and if they can keep their attacking trio of Sterling, Sane and Aguero fit for the remainder of the campaign it would be unlikely for City to not make the Champions League spot for the 7th consecutive season.

Club: Liverpool
Form: DLWLW
Position: 4th
Position last season: 8th
Odds: 8/11

After an incredible start to the season the reds have capitulated in an alarming fashion. Since the turn of 2017 they managed to squander their chances in the FA Cup and the Capital One cup as well as falling 11 points behind Chelsea in the league it is safe to say that the reds will finish the season without silverware for a 5th year. Alarm bells are ringing for Jurgen Klopp and if he fails to get a Champions League spot questions will be asked about whether he is the right man for the job.

Club: Arsenal
Form: WLLWL
Position: 5th
Position last season: 2nd
Odds: 7/5

The atmosphere around Arsenal seems to get worse every season. Although they finished 3rd and 2nd in their last two seasons and have been in the top four consecutively for two decades the fans believe it is time for Wenger to leave the club. Once again there has been no progression from a very talented side and some fans may even want the club to finish outside to top four to give them more of a reason to see the back of Arsene Wenger.

Club: Manchester United
Form: DDWWD
Position: 6th
Position last season: 5th
Odds: 2/1

Manchester United have had an indifferent season. The feeling around the fans is content and with a first piece of silverware in the bag this season fans will be hoping they can add to that in the FA Cup and Europa League. If they manage to win the latter then they will still qualify for the Champions League so fans aren't panicking at the moment. However, after spending almost 20 weeks in 6th place fans will still want United to finish in the top four. However, after drawing 10 out of 26 league games it is hard to see United flicking a switch and winning the remainder of their games and break into the top four.
